Want to visit a world where everyone can work magic, but most don't think the risk of insanity worth it? Visit Aleyi, not quite epic fantasy or high fantasy, but some combination of the two. (Personally, I tend to call it "traditional fantasy" or "classic fantasy", because that conveys the "other-world" aspect.) The elfin heroine of A Fistful of Fire is a terrible klutz.
Or what if you had to be born with a magic ability to have one, but you'd better hope your parent or grandparent wasn't some form of magical immune? Visit the Darkworld, urban fantasy for young adults (and older) that isn't actually a paranormal romance. The vampire's crush on the teenage narrator of Destiny's Kissactually freaks her out (though not for the reasons you'd expect).
Or a world where vampires, werewolves, humans, and others live, and what you are may or may not have anything to do with what your parents were? (And a vampire may or may not have a rare disorder that means the sunlight will burn her into a crisp?) That can be found in the Overhill stories.

I have a lot more series scuttling about in this head of mine, too, so stay tuned!
I blog every Thursday (if not more often) over at Another Author's 2 Pence, covering such varied things as attitudes in online discussions and news on my new releases.
You like Twitter? Follow me @carradee.
You like Facebook? Sorry, but I keep my Facebook account for myself, personally. My grandmother has to be able to get in touch with me somehow.
Thanks for your visit! I hope you see something you like. :)
